I recently had the pleasure of getting some questions answered by the president, founder, and brewmaster of Yards, Tom Kehoe. You can read about my great experience on the tour of Yards here. Read on for Tom’s answers. For more information check our their website and if you’re ever in their area, stop in for a tour.

About Yards Brewing Company from Tom Kehoe
How long have you worked at Yards?
TK: 20 years
Biggest brewing success?
TK: Staying in business for 20 years. Being part of a wonderful industry with good friends and strong personalities.
Any brewing experiments gone wrong?
TK: Yes, I have tried to do a coconut beer. Smelled like Hawaiian Tropic, tasted like coconut water.
In your opinion, what is the best gateway craft beer?
TK: Yards Brawler
What’s something you haven’t brewed yet but want to try?
TK: A production batch of hefeweizen. (He’s only brewed small batches so far)
Favorite beer from your brewery?
TK: ESA (Extra Special Ale) still holds up and is a great drinking beer. Beer for grownups.
If you couldn’t drink your beer whose beer would you drink? Why?
TK: Traveling, whatever is local. International, Sinebrychoff Porter. I want a fresh beer that gives me a flavor of the town, city, or region that I am visiting.
