Beer:Ryan and the Beaster Bunny
Brewery: Evil Twin Brewing
Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale
I picked up a bottle of Ryan and the Beaster Bunny at my local bottle shop, Monde Market. It was one bottle of the mix six pack I picked up last week, the one that also included the Banana Bread Beer I talked about. I tried this one after the Banana Bread Beer and was much happier with it’s taste.
This saison/farmhouse ale pours a thick head. It is golden in color and one the head dissipates, leaves a nice lacing. The smell is was of hop and a little hint of vanilla. I enjoyed the smell of this because it wasn’t too hoppy, they got it just right.
Once I took in the smell I tasted my first sip. It certainly has the taste of hops but not overly so. It ends on a sweet note, leaving a sweet, light aftertaste. I could also taste some spices and fruitiness to its flavor. They all blended well together and made for a refreshing beer overall. The beer is light in body. It was not creamy but not super fizzy either, I found it was somewhere in between.
If you’re a saison/farmhouse ale fan this is worth a try. Next time you’re out and see it either on a menu or on the shelves at your favorite bottle shop, pick one up. Tried it before? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
