It’s a Saturday in Philadelphia and the streets of Center City are bustling with crowds of people. Many stay out long past dinner for an evening of drinks and maybe even some dancing while others turn in early. Every weekend it feels like the city is full of events but next Saturday May 29th begins a 10 day long experience unique to the City of Brotherly Love: Philly Beer Week.
Back in 2008 the first Philly Beer week was born and has since been organized by a board of brewery owners, distributors, and representatives in the Philadelphia area. Since the founding year of this event 100 other cities have launched their own beer weeks, hoping to emulate the way Philly’s highlights the importance of beer culture in their area.
Every year events are lined up throughout the week, this year it runs from May 29th to June 7th, whether it be festivals, tastings, or tours there is always a new place to try.
What events are to look out for this year though? Well, a lot to put it simply. On opening day alone there are over 40 events all across the city, only further proving that there is much to be excited for. For the schedule of events go to Philly Beer Week’s website here and take it all in. You can get ahead of the game and map out which events you aim to attend each day. I know I am, there are just so many it can be hard to narrow it down. I’ll be sure to share any photos I take during my beer week exploration and you should too. You have one week until opening day. Prepare your list of targeted events, explore, and most importantly enjoy your beer.
